The decor is odd, but the food is nice and the smell from the pizza oven is intoxicating. It was my first time going and it was a day they had their oyster special.
The oysters were really good and tasted fresh. I ordered a pizza (how could I not?). The pizza was well put together. It was tasty and delicious and a good balance of food. My only hubbub is that I found the crust in the center too thin, thinner than any thin crust I've ever had. It's a hubbub because it was so thin that the toppings, cheese and thin layer of sauce slid right off everytime I pulled a slice.
Overall, I had a great experience and loved the food. Would like to go back and try a different pizza. -

Disappointed, the food here doesn't taste as good as it was last time I came. Not to mention the wait for food was long too.
Was originally planning to give this place a 4 star but knocked off a star cause one of my dishes was served cold. The bulgogi short rib served on kimchi fried rice. When the dish was first served, the fried rice didn't look too appetizing and it was cold. I let it go, but then after I took a bite of of the short rib it was cold too. I then asked the waiter to get it reheated and he kindly said no worries, we'll get them to being you a new one. Nope. Did not happen. He came back with our same dish reheated and the short ribs were now burnt. Burnt to the extent where I had to cut those pieces off and ate only half the meat. Don't know what it was with the rice but it just didn't taste freshly cooked and the rice was like shredded. Really upset about this dish.
The pizza was still delicious though. Love their Moana Loa pizza.
Brussel sprouts were tasty too. -

The Good Son took over the Linda Thai Restaurant location at The Shops at Don Mills. They renovated the space, and its definitely elegant and beautiful inside. We came in as a group of 5 and was seated right away on a Thursday afternoon. We tried the seasonal mussels, the Arugula & Pear Salad, The Pork Cheek Pineapple pizza, The Spicy Italian Sausage Pizza and Bulgogi Short Ribs.
Nothing particularly stood out that would make it a "must visit" -we spent almost $180 and were still left hungry. Service was good, but the portion size is small. Overall, if you're looking for a place to have a nice meal in the area, come by. -

Since it wasn't a busy in the restaurant, we took our time with the meal, ordering appetizers to nibble on with the drinks. Of course, the burrata ($19) was soft and creamy, but The Good Son adds a bit of roasted garlic on top. While this may sound overpowering against the mild cheese, the roasted garlic provided mostly aroma versus bite and the balsamic reduction creates some sweetness. It's a tasty burrata.
In the future, I'd stick with the Italian dishes and steer clear of the sea bream ceviche ($16). The fish became lost under all the avocado, pear (?), pomegranate, and tomatillo sauce so it tasted like eating chunky salsa versus ceviche. Plus, incorporating both pomegranate and pear in the dish made it too sweet and it lacked the chili bite I like with ceviche. On the bright side, the corn tortillas were tasty and abundant.
Regardless, the food gods continued to bless us. Wednesdays also means $10 pizza day! It would have been our choice anyways given The Good Son is known for their wood oven pizza... the large station in the corner certainly entices you to want to bite into the smoky pie.
Craving a hearty pizza, the capricciosa ($20) fit the bill with big chunks of mushrooms, mild sundried olives, artichokes, fior di latte, and layers of Prosciutto cotto. Understandably, under the weight of all the toppings, the pizza is impossible to pick up but the crust is well-toasted on the bottom so it's not mushy either. If only they left off the balsamic with the mushrooms - don't sneak a sweet and savoury combination on me please!l
Normally, I likely would have ordered the spicy sopressata ($21). Simply adorned with slices of cured meat and little chunks of Anaheim chili strewn throughout for a manageable heat. -

Really liked this place. The decor is funky, there were a lot of families, there are shops all around. I had the eggs Florentine which were cooked perfectly and came on a potato latke. Even the side spinach was delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly and were beautifully runny. The manager was really nice too which was a bonus to me. The meal wasn't very big though so if anything I would order an extra side with my dish, but needless to say I would definitely go here again.
